Exciting Events Cancel Nantes vs. Toulouse Match in French League

The Nantes vs. Toulouse match in the 34th and final round of the French league witnessed unfortunate events, as the match was halted in the 22nd minute due to crowd riots inside the La Beaujoire stadium.

Fans in the 'Loire' stand, supporting Nantes, threw flares and fireworks onto the pitch, before some fans invaded the field, prompting referee Stephanie Frappart to stop the match and send the players to the locker rooms.

The stands saw violent clashes between fans and security forces, with some seats being uprooted and thrown at the police, amidst a significant state of chaos inside the stadium.

For his part, Nantes coach Vahid Halilhodžić, who was leading his final match in his career, attempted to intervene and calm the fans but was prevented from approaching due to the dangerous situation.

There was also a state of concern among Nantes players, as some were seen asking their families to leave the stadium for fear of escalating events, while a crisis cell comprising the French league association and local authorities was formed before the match was officially canceled.

These events come after Nantes' relegation to the second division was confirmed, in a season where the team experienced extremely difficult results.
