The Mamelodi Sundowns team took a step towards winning the CAF Champions League title after defeating the Royal Army with a 1-0 victory in the first leg of the final. The match was characterized by excitement, numerous opportunities, and technical stoppages.

The South African team entered the match strongly from the first minutes and almost opened the scoring early through Tashrik Matthews. However, Marwan Al-Wadani intervened at the crucial moment and saved the Royal Army's goal from a certain score, turning the ball into a corner kick.

The match witnessed a temporary stoppage after one of the Sundowns players fell following a strong collision with Youssef El Fahli in the midfield. The referee resumed play after ensuring the player's well-being.

For their part, the Royal Army tried to threaten their opponent's goal with a dangerous cross sent by Youssef El Fahli into the penalty area, but the Sundowns' defense successfully dealt with it. Meanwhile, the home team responded with an attempt by Nuno Santos, who sent a cross that went unchallenged.

Aubrey Modiba succeeded in breaking through the Moroccan defense after executing a direct free kick in a remarkable manner, launching it powerfully towards the right corner of Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti's goal, giving Sundowns the only lead in the match.

The match was not without exciting interruptions, as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology experienced a technical malfunction that caused the game to be paused for some time before the encounter resumed after the technical issue was fixed.

In an attempt to turn the result around, Reda Slim fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball went just over the crossbar, squandering one of the Royal Army's most dangerous chances.

Brian Leon Muniz also missed a clear opportunity to extend Sundowns' lead when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper inside the penalty area, but he shot a low ball that went just wide of the right post.

The South African team almost added a second goal from a free kick executed by Monnapule Kenneth Saleng with a powerful shot, but the ball hit the left post of goalkeeper Tagnaouti, before the Royal Army's defense managed to clear the danger.

With this victory, Mamelodi Sundowns enters the second leg with a psychological advantage and a positive result, while the Royal Army will be required to respond in the decisive encounter to keep their hopes of continental triumph alive.
