Sarri Raises the Challenge Flag Before the Italian Cup Final
Italian coach Maurizio Sarri expressed his great pride in the level that Lazio has shown this season, praising the players' mentality and fighting spirit, ahead of the anticipated match against Inter Milan in the Italian Cup final.
During the press conference for the match, Sarri addressed the condition of midfielder Danilo Cataldi, explaining that he has indeed returned to group training after his condition improved. However, he is still not physically ready to play for extended minutes in the final match.
The Italian coach said, "I have eight doubts after last Saturday's match because the performance was poor on a collective level rather than individual mistakes, and there was a lot of hesitation within the team."
He added: "When matches are this close together, it becomes difficult to train perfectly, but the players have prepared well, and I hope we show a completely different image in the final."
Sarri expressed his satisfaction with what his team achieved during the season, saying: "I am very proud of the season we had and the mentality the players showed, even if they made some mistakes in certain matches. They have brought back my happiness, embarked on a tough journey, and overcame many complex situations."
He continued: "We have become much better compared to the beginning of the season, and this gives us great satisfaction on both a personal and athletic level."
Regarding the possibility of winning the title, Sarri said: "I lost two previous finals on penalties, and what I regret most is the final I lost with Chelsea against Manchester City. Winning this tournament would be a gift for the players and the fans, especially given the current circumstances and the difficulty for fans to attend matches."
He concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of faith and mental readiness against Inter, saying: "Everyone understands the significance of this match, and I don't think we need additional motivational words. The players know what needs to be done against Inter, and we must believe in our chances until the end."
