Qatar Announces Its Preliminary Squad for the 2026 World Cup
The Qatari national team has announced its preliminary squad for participation in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the summer of this year, in preparation for its second participation in the global tournament, following its first appearance in the 2022 edition hosted on its soil.
According to the list announced by coach Julen Lopetegui, the team includes 34 players, with the number to be reduced to 26 players before the tournament begins.
The list saw the call-up of veteran striker Sebastian Soria, aged 42, who continues to represent the team since 2007.
Qatar will compete in the 2026 World Cup within Group B, which includes the teams of Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
