Saturday 09-05-2026
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick appeared in a press conference following the goalless draw against Sunderland in the 36th round of the English Premier League, at the Stadium of Light.

The coach said, "It's difficult to play here. They have achieved good results throughout the season. We'll settle for the point, as keeping a clean sheet is great. We've scored many goals this season; it's just one of those matches. A good point, and we almost won in the end."

He added about the impact of the five changes on the lineup: "It's just one game. This is the time of the season. We've put in a lot of effort and made some changes today, and I think the players' spirit was fantastic."

He emphasized: "Today we achieved a positive result by earning a point. Did we expect a perfect match? We did not expect a perfect match. This is what happened. There is no need to overthink, and it is difficult to be negative."

Regarding the performance of the players who participated in the starting lineup: "They are not under test. As a team, we could have performed better, but we know the players' capabilities." Everyone contributed excellently, and I am pleased with the communication, understanding, and readiness for teamwork today."

He concluded on how to finish the season after securing qualification for the Champions League: "We gave it our all this week. We have our last home game of the season, and we will work hard this week. We are looking forward to it. It's important to finish the season strongly, and I believe what happened today is a positive sign for us."
