Decisive Agreement Returns Yemen Stars Before Lebanon Clash
Tuesday 05-05-2026
The Yemeni Football Association resolved one of its most challenging issues after reaching an agreement with foreign clubs to release its professional players ahead of the official date, in support of preparations for the upcoming match against Lebanon.

This step came after intensive negotiations led by the federation president with Bahrain's Al-Khalidiya Club and Iraq's Al-Talaba Club to ensure the presence of key players in the preparatory camp.

The agreement witnessed mutual concessions, with the clubs agreeing to release players 72 hours before the international break, in exchange for the federation's commitment to return them immediately after the match without delay.

The agreement also included an important medical clause, stipulating the submission of daily reports on the players' physical condition during the camp to ensure they do not suffer from fatigue and to maintain their readiness.

Regarding the players, captain Abdulwasea Al-Matari will arrive in Doha after undergoing a special recovery program, while Nasser Mohammedouh will join following his recent participation with his team.

As for Ahmed Al-Sarouri, his direct flight from Baghdad to Doha has been confirmed, and he is set to join the delegation early to support the team's preparations.

The coaching staff chose to hold the training camp in Doha instead of Cairo for technical reasons related to the quality of the fields and modern technologies, as well as to reduce travel fatigue for the players.

The local delegation is expected to depart from Aden Airport early Sunday morning, with accommodations at a hotel near Lusail, to ensure a calm atmosphere that aids in full concentration before the decisive encounter.
