Mars Clings to Hope.. But the Path to the Rwandan League Title Seems Complex
Sunday 03-05-2026
The chances of Sudan's Al-Merrikh in competing for the top spot in the Rwandan League have become very complicated, as the team needs what resembles a football miracle to finish the season in first place, before its symbolic participation is invalidated due to the nature of the Sudanese clubs' participation.

Al-Merrikh is required to win all of its remaining six matches in full, including the anticipated summit clash against Al-Hilal, in addition to a strong match against the Rwandan Army, without any slip-ups until the end.

On the other hand, Al-Merrikh also needs Al-Hilal to falter on more than one occasion, as the leader must lose another match in addition to the supposed loss in the summit, and draw in a third match, in order for Al-Merrikh to surpass them in the standings.

However, the current data confirms that all roads seem closer to Al-Hilal's crowning as the leader, as Sudan's Al-Hilal will practically secure the title even if they lose to the Army and Al-Merrikh, provided they win their other four matches, regardless of the results of the other competitors.
