Pyramids FC representative: We are not the top contenders for the CAF Champions League

Ahmad Zaher, representative of Pyramids FC at the CAF Champions League draw for the 2026-2027 season, stated that his team is not considered the top contender for the continental title, despite having a distinguished group of players. He emphasized the necessity of focusing during the group stage to secure qualification to the knockout rounds.

The draw, which took place on Wednesday at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, resulted in Pyramids FC being placed in Group D, alongside Al-Hilal, Horoya Conakry, and FUS Rabat, in a group that features teams with experience and history in African competitions.

Zaher has explained in press statements that his team faces tough matches ahead, which imposes on the players the need to maintain the highest levels of focus throughout the group stage in order to achieve the primary goal of qualifying for the next round.

A representative of Pyramids FC stated that playing away matches should not be a hindrance for the team, emphasizing that the most important thing is good preparation and focus, whether the matches are held at home or away.

When asked about Pyramids FC's chances in the competition for the title, Zahir ruled out considering his team as the top contender for the trophy, but expressed his hope to achieve positive results this season and reach the furthest stage possible in the tournament.

He added that Pyramids FC are a good team, but they face competitors with a rich history in African football, stressing that the club will do its utmost to achieve its goals and progress in the competition.

Pyramids FC begin their group stage campaign by hosting FUS Rabat, before traveling to face Horoya Conakry, and then welcoming Al-Hilal in Cairo.

In the fourth round, the Egyptian team Al-Hilal will face off again in Sudan, then visit Maghreb de Fès, before concluding their group stage campaign by hosting Horoya Conakry.

The matches of the six rounds are scheduled to take place from late November 2026 until the end of January 2027.
