Carrick: It Was an Open Match, and We Achieved Our Goal in the End
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick appeared in a press conference following the 2-1 victory over Brentford in the 34th round of the English Premier League, at Old Trafford.
The coach said: "The match was quite open at times. We started off great, and we congratulate them; they are a good team, and we knew that. They gradually got into the game and were in a good position by the end of the first half, so we made some adjustments in the second half."
He added: "They had some opportunities near the end of the match, but I believe the team's spirit, efforts, and cohesion were outstanding. This is the time of year when results are decided, and we needed to collect points."
Regarding the change made at halftime: "We would have won anyway. There were some spaces we needed to cover better, and that had a positive effect. It was purely tactical."
Regarding Bruno Fernandes' assist through which Sisco scored the second goal: "We have scored in almost every match, and Bruno is a big part of that. He could have possibly provided another assist and scored a goal himself."
He concluded about Brentford's goal: "It's a tough finish in a tough league. We are very pleased with this number of victories. Our goal today was to secure the three points. It's another win. We have an important match coming up and we are looking forward to it."
