Rosenior: We Were Not Close to the Required Level, What Happened is Unacceptable
Wednesday 22-04-2026
Liam Rosenior, Chelsea's coach, expressed his intense anger following his team's loss to Brighton with a score of 3-0, affirming that the team did not deliver the required level at all.

Rosenior said: "We were not close to the required level, not just tactically, but in duels, intensity, energy, and passion; everything was missing, and that is why we lost."

He continued: "I have my own ideas, and I am not here to make excuses, what happened was unacceptable from everyone and I am the first one responsible for it, and that needs to change."

He added: "It's not about accountability, I have defended the players at times when it was right to do so, but I cannot defend this performance, this does not represent this club, nor does it represent anything I ask from the group, and it must change."

He went on: "I feel numb, I am very angry, I always speak about what I see, and what happened was unacceptable, the goals we conceded were unacceptable, and this is something I must take responsibility for."

He continued: "I will review the team, and I will review the individuals, and I will look at a team I can trust to execute the basics of football, and we should not be talking about the basics of football at this level, and this is something we must correct quickly."

He concluded his statements by saying: "Tonight was not a matter of tactics, but a matter of desire, spirit, and courage, and I did not see enough of that tonight, and we were not close to the required level and we must improve."
