Manchester United is working on a plan to rebuild the midfield during the summer transfer window by signing three new players to fully strengthen the team.

According to press reports, the English club intends to sign three midfielders, with Atalanta's player Ederson expected to be the first acquisition in early July after his transfer is officially completed.

Sky Sports added that Manchester United has reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign the player for £34 million, plus £3.8 million in incentives, with a four-year contract and an option to extend for an additional season.

Reports indicate that the deal is just the beginning, as the club continues to monitor other names such as Matheus Fernandes, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Sandro Tonali, and Carlos Baleba to strengthen the midfield.

The Guardian newspaper explained that United's management sees Ederson as an important part of the project to return to the Champions League, with clear support from within the club.

Michael Carrick believes that the team needs to restore balance in the midfield after clear struggles in recent seasons with weak control and defensive exposure.

The club plans to add additional players, one as a holding midfielder and the other as an advanced midfielder, in order to build a more balanced and effective midfield.
