Al Sadd Club officially clinched the Qatar Stars League title after their direct competitor Al Shamal lost to Qatar Club with a score of 2-0 in the postponed match from the seventeenth round, which took place today, Monday.
The match saw a strong start from Qatar Club, which surprised Al Shamal with an early goal in the seventh minute by Ahmed Al-Rawi, before Joao Pedro extended the lead with a second goal in the 18th minute, putting his team in a comfortable position early on.
Despite the numerical disadvantage faced by Qatar Club after their player Ali Al-Saudi was sent off in the 45+12 minute, Al-Shamal failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage and was unable to come back in the score until the final whistle.
With this result, Al-Shamal's tally froze at 37 points, compared to Al-Sadd's 42 points, with only one round remaining for each team. This means it is impossible for Al-Shamal to catch up to the top, officially crowning Al-Sadd as the league champions.
