Source on Appeals: Al-Ahly Has the Right to Appeal El-Shenawy's Penalty
A source within the Grievances Committee of the Egyptian Football Association clarified Al Ahly's position on appealing the suspension penalty of their goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, which was recently imposed.
The Egyptian Clubs Association announced a four-match suspension for El-Shenawy following an incident where he assaulted the referee after the match against Ceramica Cleopatra, which ended in a 1-1 draw in the first round of the final stage of the Egyptian Premier League.
The source confirmed that Al Ahly club has the right to appeal the penalty, as it was issued by the Competitions Committee, which legally allows for an appeal before the Appeals Committee.
He pointed out that if the penalty was issued by the Disciplinary Committee, Al-Ahly would not have the right to appeal unless the suspension reached 6 matches or more, according to the governing regulations.
