Aliou Cissé Approaches Coaching the Angola National Team
Angolan media reports have revealed that Senegalese coach Aliou Cissé is close to taking over the managerial role for the Angola national team, just hours after announcing his departure from coaching the Libya national team.
On Wednesday, Cissé announced the end of his tenure with the Libyan national team, despite his contract running until 2027, in a surprising move.
The national radio in Angola reported that the Angolan Football Federation intends to hold a press conference on Thursday evening to reveal the identity of the new national team coach.
On the other hand, "Radio Cinco" reported that Cissé had already arrived in Angola on Wednesday evening, in preparation to take over as coach of the team known as "The Panthers."
The position of head coach for the Angola national team has remained vacant since mid-February, following the departure of coach Patrice Beaumelle to take over the coaching of Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
According to Libyan reports, the delay in financial dues for several months was one of the main reasons that prompted Sissoko to decide to leave.
The Senegalese coach expressed his gratitude for his experience with the Libyan national team, affirming that it was a rich experience on both professional and personal levels. He also extended his thanks to the players, the technical staff, and the fans for the support he received.
It is noted that Cisse took over as the coach of the Libyan national team in March 2025, succeeding coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri.
