Sunday 05-04-2026
Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the behind-the-scenes of the Pharaohs' match against Spain, which ended in a goalless draw. He emphasized that the coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, handled the match in a well-planned manner despite the difficult circumstances.

Ibrahim Hassan explained in a television interview that the coaching staff is keen on studying each opponent thoroughly, noting that the recent training camp witnessed successes that can be built upon in the upcoming phase.

He added that the preparations for the two friendly matches were not easy, given the frequent changes in the schedule of the matches. They were initially set to take place in Qatar before things changed, and the match against Spain was canceled more than once, which put a lot of pressure on the team, especially with playing two strong matches away from home and traveling between them.

He pointed out that the Egyptian national team remains one of the strongest Arab teams, which motivates competitors to give their best against them, explaining that the match against Saudi Arabia was intense and witnessed significant engagement.

He revealed that the team was close to facing Argentina before negotiations faltered, noting that there were offers to hold matches in Egypt before deciding to play them abroad, while also affirming the coaching staff's confidence in facing any opponent.

He expressed his discontent with the boos from the Spanish fans during the national anthem, emphasizing the importance of respecting national symbols, and affirmed that the players responded on the field with a strong performance and a positive result.

He added that the coaching staff is considering playing a friendly match against the Brazilian national team before the World Cup, as part of the preparations for the tournament, in addition to postponing an offer to face one of the teams participating in the World Cup until after the tournament.

He concluded his statements by affirming the coaching staff's commitment to their mission with the Egyptian national team, emphasizing that the goal is to bring joy to the fans and achieve strong results, and that they will continue their work as long as they have support and trust.
