Rosinior: This is Our Stance on the Transfer Market, and We Want to Win the Cup
Friday 03-04-2026
Chelsea coach Liam Rosinior appeared at a press conference to discuss tomorrow's match against Port Vale, in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, at Stamford Bridge.

The coach spoke about why Mark Cucurella was not penalized like Enzo Fernandez for their comments about their futures: 'Anyone who knows Mark's character knows he is a passionate player and wants to give his best. It was a long interview, and he expressed his opinion frankly. When I spoke to him yesterday, I reminded him that he can be honest with me, and it takes time to build trust.'

He added: 'Mark is fully committed, and he clearly conveyed to me his desire to stay here and believes in the direction we are heading.'

The coach talked about his relationship with the players, saying: 'I have had major conversations with everyone, not just about the style of play or results, but also about how to move forward. We need to improve things, but at the same time, I want a culture that is open and transparent where we can challenge each other. This requires difficult conversations and telling each other when we are wrong.'

Rosinior emphasized that some issues need to remain behind closed doors, stressing that there is no division within the dressing room: 'There are no groups not talking to each other. We are together, and I am part of the team. Every club goes through tough times, and we have had ten difficult days, and now it's time to unite and perform.'

On the transfer market: 'We will bring in players with mental stability and strong characters who can handle tough moments. We have discussed with the management and owners what we want to do in the summer, and I have also spoken to some players who are happy with this path. Before that, we need to ensure qualification for the Champions League and win the FA Cup.'

He continued about the team's condition: 'Reece James is improving but not ready yet, we monitor daily. Trevoh Chalobah is progressing well, and Levi Colwill has returned to full training and will need a few more weeks. We have a new and refreshed group, and Estevao and Jimmy Gittens have returned.'

About the leaders in the team, he said: 'We have many leaders in the group like Moises Caicedo, Tosin Adarabioyo, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Mark Cucurella. I will determine the final captain when announcing the lineup tomorrow.'

Regarding the club's ambitions in the FA Cup, he added: 'We want to win, it's not about me or achieving a personal feat, but about the club's success in the short and long term. To achieve that, we must go through tough moments to recognize characters and make the right decisions for the future.'
