CAF President: Surprised by the Absence of Fans at Al Ahly vs. Esperance Match
Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), expressed his surprise at the absence of Al Ahly fans during the match against Tunisian club Espérance in the African Champions League.
Espérance Sportive de Tunis defeated Al Ahly with an aggregate score of 4-2 in the home and away matches of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
The statements of the President of the African Football Confederation came during the press conference held today, Sunday, following the Executive Committee meeting in Cairo.
The CAF President said during the press conference: "I was surprised by the absence of fans at the Al Ahly and Esperance match, and when I asked about the reason, they informed me that Al Ahly's fans were suspended by the CAF Disciplinary Committee."
Esperance successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
