The Belgian National Team Showers the United States with Five Goals in a Friendly Match
Sunday 29-03-2026
The Belgian national team achieved a wide victory over its host, the American national team, with a score of (5-2), in the friendly match that brought them together today in the city of Atlanta, as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals.

The match began with clear competitiveness, as the hosts succeeded in opening the scoring through player Weston McKennie in the 39th minute. As the first half was breathing its last, the Belgian team equalized through Zeno Debast in the 45th minute, bringing the match back to square one before the break.

The second half witnessed overwhelming superiority for the Belgians, as the Belgian team exploited the spaces in the back lines of coach Mauricio Pochettino's squad, and the visitors scored three consecutive goals in just 6 minutes, starting with a header by Amadou Onana (53), followed by two consecutive goals by Dodi Lukebakio (58) and Charles De Ketelaere (59).

The brilliant Lukebakio returned to deepen the Americans' wounds with his second personal goal and the fifth for his team in the 82nd minute, before substitute Patrick Agyemang reduced the deficit for the American team in the 87th minute, ending the confrontation with a heavy result of five goals to two.

The match showed clear individual differences in the offensive aspects and rapid transitions in favor of the Belgian team, while this harsh defeat raised question marks about the defensive system of the American team and its readiness to face major powers before the World Cup kicks off on its home soil and among its fans.
