Tuchel: I Liked Our Style of Play, and the Penalty Wasn't Correct
The England national team coach Thomas Tuchel appeared in press statements following the 1-1 draw against the Uruguayan national team in the international friendly match held on Friday evening at Wembley.
The coach said in his talk: "The Uruguay penalty? It wasn't a penalty."
He added: "I am completely satisfied with the performance. We did our best and were the better team overall."
He continued in his talk: "We had some dangerous chances from set pieces. We had to make changes. We had many new players, and we changed a lot of them, and I am grateful for this experience."
He emphasized: "I have to review the match, I liked our style of play. We knew it was a tough opponent. Marcelo Bielsa told me months ago he would bring his best lineup. Everyone performed well. I liked a lot of things today."
About Ben White, who scored England's goal and caused the penalty for Uruguay: "It was like a dream when he scored the winning goal that wasn't a goal in the end. He might have been a bit selfish in his defensive intervention, but it wasn't a penalty."
When asked if he hoped White's goal would change some opinions that didn't like the player's call-up over Arnold, he said: "I hope so. This has happened before for some players here, and it's frustrating because I don't think it benefits anyone. The reactions were mixed."
