Royal Army and Moroccan Embassy Intervene for Release of Fans in Cairo
The management of the Royal Army, in coordination with the Moroccan Embassy in Egypt, intervened to secure the release of some of the team's fans who were detained following clashes with fans of Tunisia's Esperance, ahead of today's matches in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Press reports confirmed that clashes occurred on Friday evening between the fans of the two teams before the matches of the Royal Army against Pyramids, and Al-Ahly against Esperance, resulting in the arrest of six supporters from both sides.
Sources indicated that the management of the Royal Army and the Moroccan Embassy in Cairo are making intensive efforts to contain the situation and ensure the release of the fans, in preparation for their attendance at the upcoming matches, given the importance of the results in terms of qualifying for the semifinals.
