17 Clubs Vote to Abolish Relegation and Increase Professional League Teams
The meeting that brought together officials from the Moroccan Football Federation and the National Professional Football League with club presidents marked a new step in the proposal to cancel relegation and increase the number of teams in the professional league, as 17 clubs supported the proposal while 7 clubs opposed it.
According to circulating information, the list of clubs that did not support the proposal includes Raja Casablanca, FAR Rabat, FUS Rabat, Ittihad Témara, Mouloudia de Meknes, Chabab Soualem, and Wydad de Fès.
The positions of the seven clubs varied between rejection and abstention from voting. Data indicates that Raja Casablanca, FUS Rabat, Ittihad Tanger, KAC Kénitra, Chabab Soualem, and Wydad Fes voted against the proposal, while Royal Army chose to abstain from voting.
This vote opens the door to a new phase of discussion regarding the proposal to increase the number of clubs in the professional league and abolish relegation, pending the completion of the legal and organizational aspects related to the decision.
The final decision remains tied to determining the format that will be adopted and the feasibility of its implementation starting from the next football season.
