The Casablanca Court in the Algerian capital issued a verdict against South African coach Rhulani Mokwena, the former coach of MC Alger, in connection with a case related to violating currency exchange regulations.

The court sentenced Mokwena to two months in prison with a suspended sentence, in addition to confiscating an amount estimated at 14,200 euros, and fined him an additional amount, according to media reports.

The details of the case go back to the arrest of the coach at Houari Boumediene International Airport as he was preparing to leave Algeria, after ending his association with the Mouloudia Club of Algiers.

The same sources reported that the routine inspection raised the suspicions of the security personnel, prompting them to subject his luggage to a thorough examination.

During the search, sums of money were found hidden in unusual ways, placed inside his shoe and between the pages of some books, without being declared, which led to legal proceedings against him and a judgment being issued.
