FIFA Rejects Changing Iran's Match Schedule in the 2026 World Cup
Tuesday 17-03-2026
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has resolved the controversy regarding the possibility of amending the schedule of Iran's national team matches in the 2026 World Cup, confirming that there is no intention to make any changes.

A FIFA spokesperson clarified in statements to "The Athletic" newspaper that the international federation continues to coordinate with all participating associations, including the Iranian Football Federation, as part of the preparations for the tournament.

وأضاف أن «الفيفا» يتطلع إلى مشاركة كافة المنتخبات وفق الجدول الرسمي الذي تم الإعلان عنه يوم 6 ديسمبر 2025، دون أي تعديلات.

These statements come following reports about the possibility of moving the Iranian national team's matches from the United States to Mexico, at the request of the Iranian federation, due to concerns related to the players' safety and surrounding conditions.

The President of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, had previously indicated that discussions were taking place with FIFA regarding this issue, before an official response came to definitively resolve the situation.
