Officially.. Barcelona Announces Laporta's Victory as Club President
The Spanish club Barcelona announced on its official website on the internet, about the victory of Joan Laporta as the club's president over Victor Font, after he swept the club's 2026 elections, according to official results announced after the completion of vote counting.
Laporta received 68.18% of the total votes, equivalent to 32,934 votes, significantly surpassing his rival Victor Font who obtained 29.78% of the votes with 14,385 votes, while the percentage of blank votes was 2.04%.
The elections witnessed the participation of 48,480 club members, with an attendance rate of 42.34% of the total members eligible to vote.
Font said: "I congratulate President Laporta on his victory. We feel a bit sad because our dream of bringing the club closer to its fans and achieving what we proposed in the past weeks did not come true, but we respect the members' decision."
He added: "The large difference in votes was somewhat surprising, but in the end, the members are the ones who decide with their votes. Now we will analyze the past phase and think about the next steps."
According to many press reports, Laporta will officially assume the presidency of the Catalan club starting from July 1st, and will remain the club's president until 2031.
