Rossignol: Happy with James' Contract Renewal, and This is Our Chance Against PSG
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior appeared at a press conference to discuss the match against Newcastle on Saturday, in the 30th round of the English Premier League, at Stamford Bridge.
The coach said, "A comeback against Paris Saint-Germain? I don't prioritize one competition over another. We just want to win the next match. I've seen many teams come back after being three goals down in the Champions League, and with the number of chances we created, we still have a good chance if we score the first goal in the first half on Tuesday."
The coach also commented on the incident involving Enzo Fernandez and the team's goalkeeper, Philip Jorgensen, during the Paris match, saying: "This is a player with great passion who wants to win. Roy Keane, who was my former coach, used to do that perhaps 20 times in a match when he was a player."
The coach added, saying: "I want a team with a culture of accountability, where everyone can demand more from each other. Enzo likes Philip, but he was just frustrated due to a situation that occurred during the match, nothing more."
Regarding goalkeeping, "Jorgensen was outstanding against Aston Villa, and even against Paris Saint-Germain, he delivered an amazing performance for 75 minutes. He made one mistake, and we were punished for it, losing the match in a way we didn't deserve. Robert Sanchez is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. There is no doubt about the quality of these two players, and ultimately, the decision is mine before each match."
The coach also commented on the incident where Pedro Neto pushed a ball boy during the Paris match, saying: "I watched the clip again, and it didn't look good. I understand Pedro's desire to win, but there are different ways to handle these situations. I liked that he wanted to apologize immediately. Everyone makes mistakes; the important thing is to learn from them."
Regarding Reece James' contract renewal: "I can't stop smiling because we've retained the best player in the world in his position. He had many opportunities to leave, but his belief in the project and what we want to build here was crucial."
"When you watch Reece play, you realize his quality; he can play in several positions, scores goals, defends excellently, and possesses amazing physical abilities. What I admire most about him is his humility, and that's why he will lead Chelsea as long as I'm here."
