Chelsea Monitors Calafiori's Situation with Arsenal Amidst Decreased Playing Time
Friday 13-03-2026
The future of Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori with Arsenal has become uncertain at present, amid reports indicating Chelsea's interest in monitoring the player's situation following his reduced appearances with the first team at Emirates Stadium.

According to "TEAMtalk," Calafiori found himself out of the main lineup since returning from a muscle injury he sustained late last January, as defender Piero Hincapié established himself as the primary choice for the left center-back position under manager Mikel Arteta.

The report indicated that Arteta has often relied on Calafiori in the left-back position since his joining Arsenal, instead of his preferred position as a central defender, which has caused the player to feel frustrated and desire regular playing time in his natural position.

The source added that Chelsea is ready to move if the opportunity arises to sign the player, emphasizing that completing the deal is not out of the question. However, completing any transfer will not be easy, as Arsenal paid 44 million euros to sign Calafiori from Bologna, and his contract extends until 2029, which might lead the London club to demand a higher financial return if they consider selling him.
