CAF Announces Increase in Prize Money for African Champions League and Confederation Cup Starting Next Season
The Confederation of African Football, led by Patrice Motsepe, announced today, Monday, an increase in the prize money for the African Champions League and the African Confederation Cup, starting from the 2025-2026 season.
CAF clarified in an official statement that it has decided to increase the financial prize for the champion of each tournament by $2 million.
Under the new decision, the champion of the African Champions League for the 2025-2026 season will receive $6 million, which is a 50% increase compared to the previous amount.
On the other hand, the financial reward for the winner of the African Confederation Cup will increase to $4 million, representing a 100% increase.
The African Union noted in its statement that the prize money has seen a significant increase over the past five years, with the prize for the African Champions League winner rising from $2.5 million to $6 million, an increase of 140%, while the prize for the Confederation Cup winner rose from $1.25 million to $4 million, an increase of 220%.
The first and second legs of the CAF Champions League final are scheduled to take place on May 15 and 24, while the Confederation Cup final matches will be played on May 9 and 16.
