FIFA Suspends Youcef Belaïli for a Full Year Due to Forgery
Friday 06-03-2026
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the suspension of Algerian star Youcef Belaïli, the striker for Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis, for a full year due to a case involving document forgery filed against him by French club Ajaccio.

According to the Winwin website, FIFA's decision came after investigating Ajaccio's complaint against Belaïli, where it was found that there was forgery related to the player's transfer contract, leading to the official sanction against him.

The source stated that the suspension includes all official matches in which Belaïli participates with Espérance or any other team, both locally and internationally, for 12 months, starting from the date of the decision's issuance.

The sanction caused a shock to Espérance's fans and the player himself, who is considered one of the prominent stars in Africa and has delivered strong performances with his club and the Algerian national team in recent times.

This penalty comes after a series of legal disputes involving Belaïli's file with Ajaccio, where the French club attempted to claim its financial and legal rights regarding the player's contract, leading to FIFA's intervention and the issuance of the final decision.

It is expected that Espérance and the player will consider the possibility of filing an appeal with the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge the decision, but until any new ruling is issued, Youcef Belaïli will remain out of participation for a full year.
