The newspaper AS revealed an agreement between the International Football Committee and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to implement what is known as the 'Vinicius Law', as a new step to combat racism within stadiums.

The decision stipulates that players are prohibited from covering their mouths while speaking to opponents, with the aim of enhancing transparency on the field and preventing any racist remarks from being passed out of the referee's sight or broadcast cameras.

The law is set to be implemented before the World Cup kicks off next summer, with players who deliberately violate the new instructions facing penalties that may include a yellow card.

This move comes after an incident involving Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior during a playoff match against Benfica in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, where Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni covered his mouth while speaking, amid accusations of directing racist remarks against the Brazilian player.

This decision is expected to send a clear message that global football is moving towards tightening measures to protect players and enforce a more respectful environment on the pitch.
