Sheldrup Freezes Renewal Negotiations with Benfica

The Portuguese newspaper Record revealed that the renewal of Norwegian Andreas Schjelderup's contract with Benfica has temporarily entered a freeze phase, after no final response was received from the player and his agent regarding the offer made by the club's management.

According to the newspaper, Benfica had made an offer to renew the young winger's contract until 2031 with a significant salary increase. However, the negotiations were not completed on schedule, which led to the temporary halt of the matter.

Record indicated that the reasons for this freeze are due to the player's focus on participating with the Norwegian national team in the World Cup, along with interest from several European clubs monitoring his situation, in addition to his desire to explore options with clubs that will participate in the UEFA Champions League.

The newspaper concluded that Benfica's management remains optimistic about reaching an agreement later, despite the current stalemate, especially since the player's current contract still has several years remaining.
