Thursday 26-02-2026
The UAE's Al Wasl Club announced today, Thursday, that it has officially signed French defender Kurt Zouma on a free transfer to strengthen the "Emperor's" defense line in the upcoming phase.

The deal came after intense negotiations with the player, who became a free agent following his departure from CFR Cluj of Romania last January.

The official account of Al Wasl Club posted a welcoming image of the player on the X platform, with a brief caption: "Kurt Zouma is now a Wasl player," indicating the official completion of the deal, amidst wide interaction from the club's fans.

Zouma (31 years old) had been linked in recent times with several clubs, including Shandong Taishan in China and Rangers in Scotland.

He has previously played for Saint-Étienne, Chelsea, Stoke City, Everton, and West Ham United, in addition to a previous stint in the Saudi league with Al-Orobah.

Al Wasl's signing of the veteran defender comes ahead of their match against Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2, with the first leg taking place at Zabeel Stadium on March 4.

The "Al Awal Park" stadium in Riyadh will host the second leg on the 11th of the same month, in an anticipated match to bolster the team's continental ambitions.
