Carrick: We Still Have Much to Offer, and This Was Top-Class
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick appeared in a press statement following the 1-0 victory over Everton, at the end of the 27th round of the English Premier League, at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The coach said, "We put in a great effort, and we commend Everton for their performance, which made the match difficult for us and forced us to defend our penalty area the entire time. The spirit with which we defended was top-notch. Keeping a clean sheet is fantastic. We can perform better, but at the same time, we are pleased to leave our stadium with a 1-0 win."
He added about Benjamin Sesko's goal: "A fantastic finish, it was a crucial goal. I liked how he struck the ball with high confidence. A great pass from Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in creating the goal. We have players capable of playing on the counter-attack. I'm very happy for Ben Sesko again; he came on as a substitute and made a difference."
Regarding Matheus Cunha: "He had to defend in the second half, and he did so perfectly. It was a brilliant pass over the defenders [in the goal scene]. We needed a complete team performance to face the pressure Everton put on us, and the players delivered. When you do that, you reap the rewards because we have dangerous players."
He continued about the brilliance of goalkeeper Sen Lamins: "He saved his goal from several dangerous opportunities and appeared calm and composed under these difficult circumstances. Many corners passed under his crossbar, yet he did not lose his composure, took advantage of some good opportunities, and kept a clean sheet. His presence was extremely influential for us tonight."
He concluded: "I am happy with the result and the high morale; the players gave their utmost and sacrificed for each other. The results are good, but we still have a lot to offer."
