Gerard Martin: We Trust in a Comeback Against Atletico, and I Will Not Leave Barcelona
Friday 20-02-2026
Barcelona defender Gerard Martin expressed his confidence in the team's ability to overcome the current phase and emphasized his commitment to staying with the club during his appearance on TV3.

Martin spoke about the team's losses to Atletico Madrid and Girona, saying: "We will recover from these defeats. We are not calm, as we have lost two matches, but the advantage is that we have another game on Sunday and we can turn the page, with a bit of self-criticism and starting fresh."

Regarding the second leg of the King's Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid, despite being 4-0 down, he said: "We trust in our ability to come back, and if anyone can do it, it's us."

Regarding the defensive criticisms, he explained: "Due to our style of play, defense is a shared responsibility, but if they want to criticize us, I understand that."

During the meeting, the player rejected the idea of moving to Real Madrid, stating: "Barcelona is a very beautiful city and I am happy. I shouldn't think about anything else. Real Madrid? Not for anything in the world. There are things money can't buy."

He also denied receiving any offers from Milan, saying: "That's what's being said there, but nothing has reached me."

Martin expressed words of appreciation to Inigo Martinez, noting his support for him. He also explained that he has been receiving psychological support since his promotion to the first team, considering that such support is never excessive.
