Sport Club Corinthians Paulista's official website was hacked early Saturday morning, with hackers posting a fake announcement about signing Argentine star Lionel Messi.

The website was hacked just hours after Sport Club Corinthians Paulista's victory over Mirassol with a score of 2-0 at the "Neo Química Arena" in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Visitors to the official site were surprised to see a news announcement claiming that Lionel Messi had joined the team, in a statement that was completely unfounded.

The Brazilian club issued an official statement on Saturday morning, clarifying that its website was subjected to a cyber attack targeting its digital systems. It confirmed that the IT team was able to contain the attack quickly, without recording any financial losses or breaches of the club's data and information.

Corinthians added that the official club website and the "Neo Química Arena" site have temporarily gone offline as a precautionary measure, alongside efforts to enhance cybersecurity protocols, continue monitoring systems, and take necessary technical actions.

The site resumed operations shortly after the statement was issued, ending the incident that sparked widespread reaction due to the sudden and false announcement of the signing of Lionel Messi.
