Al Hilal Surprises Nunez and Leonardo with a Resounding Decision
Wednesday 11-02-2026
Officials of the Saudi Al-Hilal Club surprised observers with a new decision regarding the registration of the duo Marcos Leonardo and Darwin Nunez in the local roster for the current season of the Saudi Roshn League.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Youm revealed that Al-Hilal's management removed the Uruguayan Darwin Nunez from the local roster, while keeping him on the AFC Champions League list.

On the other hand, Brazilian Marcos Leonardo was registered on the local roster instead of Nunez, making him available to participate in the Saudi Professional League matches in the upcoming period.

Darwin Núñez had received an offer to transfer to Turkish club Fenerbahçe during the winter transfer window, but he preferred to stay with Al Hilal due to his sense of stability within the team.

Media reports indicate that Marcos Leonardo is considering the option of leaving Al Hilal at the end of the current season, despite being given the opportunity to register locally at the moment.

Al Hilal is preparing to face Al Ettifaq on Friday evening as part of the 22nd round of the Saudi League. They are at the top of the standings with 50 points, leading by one point over Al Nassr, who are in second place.
