Rossignol Explains the Reason for the Draw Against Leeds
Wednesday 11-02-2026
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior appeared in a press statement following the 2-2 draw against Leeds United in the 26th round of the English Premier League, in the match held at Stamford Bridge.

The coach said in his speech: "I don't want to talk about our performance. If we want to improve and reach our goals, we have to be fully focused for the entire ninety minutes. It's as simple as that."

He added: "I am very disappointed because some aspects of our play were excellent. We were supposed to secure the three points, but we didn't because of two moments where we didn't handle the course of the match well. We gifted Leeds a valuable point."

Regarding Leeds' goals: "I don't know if we need to ask for a penalty, but even with us leading 2-1, we have to mitigate the loss. Whether we think it was a handball or not, we still control the situation, kick the ball away, and then ask for a penalty. These small details cost us three points today."

And whether there was a handball in the attack preceding Noah Okafor's goal: "At that time, yes, there was a handball by a Leeds player. I haven't seen the footage yet. The rule states that if there is any handball, the goal must be disallowed."

He concluded: "As I understand it, if there is any handball at the start of the play that led to the goal, it should be disallowed. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) should assist the referee."
