Silva: The Loss Would Have Meant the End of the Title Race
Sunday 08-02-2026
Manchester City's star, Bernardo Silva, appeared in a press statement following the 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the top match of the 25th round of the English Premier League, in the encounter that took place at Anfield.

Silva said in his statement: "Considering the significant gap between us and Arsenal, our match here is undoubtedly the toughest in the Premier League, but we needed another goal. When I scored, I felt happy, but we needed another goal, and Erling Haaland achieved that."

He added, "I am very happy, but these points are no less important than any other points in any match. The beginning of the year was frustrating because we did not perform our duties to the fullest. We could have been closer to Arsenal. Imagine how difficult it is to win here, but I am really happy."

He concluded: "I believe the entire team knew before the match that if we lost, the title race might be over. We felt the need to win. Hope is still there, and we will fight until the end. We have to continue performing our duty, which we haven't done well recently."
