Flamengo Opens Door for Vinicius' Return
Wednesday 04-02-2026
The Brazilian club Flamengo dreams of the return of its former star Vinicius Junior, a player for Real Madrid, especially after the Brazilian club managed to bring back its former player Lucas Paqueta in a historic deal.

Flamengo's management understands that signing the Real Madrid star will only be possible if the player himself desires it. Therefore, they have opened the doors wide for him to return and shine once again at the Maracanã Stadium, where his football journey began.

Vini had left Flamengo in 2017, and nearly nine years later, he is experiencing one of the toughest periods of his professional career. He faced criticism and boos from the Santiago Bernabéu fans, alongside suffering from a goal drought in La Liga, which he recently managed to end.

During Lucas Paquetá's presentation, the club's sporting director, José Boto, spoke candidly about Vinicius's situation, saying: "His contract is nearing its end, and he sent me a lovely gift, a signed jersey. This type of player can only be pursued if he truly wants to return; it depends more on Vinicius than on us. The door will always remain open for him."

Vinicius Junior's contract with Real Madrid ends in June 2027, when he will be close to turning 27, after spending more than ten years at the royal club. Botto sees this stage as a real opportunity, stating: "When his contract ends, we won't have to pay any amount to Real Madrid."

Paqueta's experience boosts Flamengo's hopes, as the player turned down lucrative offers from major clubs in the English Premier League, preferring to return to his home club. Botto confirmed that the deal would not have happened without the player's genuine desire, noting that between 10 and 15 European clubs were capable of signing him.

With the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Vinicius's future and his contract not yet renewed, rumors are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, especially as Real Madrid enters the critical phase of the season. This could make the Brazilian star's future one of the hottest topics in the transfer market.
