Simeone: We Had a Good First Half, Fatigue Took Over in the Second Half
Saturday 31-01-2026
Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, spoke about his team's goalless draw against Levante in the match that brought them together in the Spanish League, during his statements after the match.

Simeone said about the course of the match: 'The team had a good first half, we controlled the game and managed to dictate the pace, and we could have scored a goal during this period,' pointing out that the performance changed after the break.

He continued: 'In the second half, fatigue appeared due to playing matches every three days, and the performance was not at the same level as the first half. The match became more balanced, with some opportunities for both sides but without offensive clarity.'

Simeone added about the lack of offensive decisiveness: 'We lacked more play in the second half, and it was not of the same quality as the first half, which reduced our chances of getting close to scoring goals.'

Regarding the conditions of Sorloth and Barrios, he said: 'The doctor will provide more accurate information so I do not anticipate matters, and the club will be responsible for announcing their condition.'

He concluded his remarks by referring to his thinking between the halves, saying: 'I was evaluating the match to know the possible changes, and this is normal for any coach,' while at the same time expressing his satisfaction with the options available on the bench.
