Inter Milan Wins 6-2, Coach Praises Players' Response
Saturday 24-01-2026
Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu expressed his admiration for his players' response after their significant 6-2 victory over their guest Pisa in the 22nd round of the Italian league, emphasizing that the team showed strong character after being two goals down at the start of the match.

Inter suffered an early shock when Pisa took the lead with two goals through Stefano Morrio, but the Nerazzurri managed to turn the score around before the end of the first half, then added three more goals in the second half to secure the match in their favor.

The coach said after the end of the match: "The match lasts 100 minutes, and it can change at any time. We conceded a goal from a set piece, but then we showed pride and continued to press with quality and intensity, and we managed to turn the result around."

The coach added, defending the Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer after the first goal was scored from a long shot outside the area: "That's my fault, because I sometimes ask the goalkeeper to do certain things. And sometimes I put Yann in difficult situations."

He emphasized, "The important thing is the attitude; we may suffer at times, but what matters is how we react. I think we did that well. We could have made the score 4-2 earlier, but it happened in the end. But a big salute to the players, they are giving their all to make this season competitive and to prove that we are working to achieve our goals."

Chivu also praised the young Francesco Pio Esposito, who gave Inter the lead before the end of the first half, saying: "He wants to prove himself and take responsibility, just like the other 25 players on the team."

He continued: "If things don't go well, it will always be my fault because I push too hard. And I'm happy that they trust in our work."

Chivu also revealed that he was late to speak to the press because he was receiving treatment from Inter's doctors, jokingly saying: "I'm filled with painkillers for my back. Tomorrow my kids want me to be in good shape, and my wife expects it too. I need to be ready to be a good husband and father."

When asked about the possibility of watching the Juventus vs. Napoli and Roma vs. Milan matches on Sunday, he said: "I have a passion for football that goes beyond my work, but family is the priority. If I have the chance, I will watch, but sometimes I need to turn off the TV and give time to my family because I dedicate a lot of time to these great players."
