Inter Milan has officially announced the activation of the buy-back clause in the contract of young Serbian midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, bringing him back to the Nerazzurri from Club Brugge with a contract extending until 2031.

The buy-back value for the player was 23 million euros, according to the clause Inter retained when selling Stankovic to Club Brugge in the summer of 2025. The Italian club had two options to bring him back: for 23 million euros in the summer of 2026 or 25 million euros in the summer of 2027, before deciding to act this summer to secure his return.

Inter's decision came after the impressive season the 20-year-old had in Belgium, where he became one of Club Brugge's standout players and contributed to the team's local successes, attracting interest from several major European clubs. However, Inter preferred to reacquire him rather than risk losing him.

Stankovic is the son of former Inter legend Dejan Stankovic, and he progressed through the club's academy before moving to Belgium to gain experience, now returning as one of the most promising young talents in European football.

Italian reports indicate that coach Cristian Chivu wants to assess the player during the preseason, with a belief within the club that he is capable of competing for a place in the first team following the significant development he showed over the past year.

By reacquiring Stankovic, Inter continues to invest in young talents as part of its future project, with high hopes that the player will follow in his father's footsteps and become a key pillar for the Nerazzurri in the coming years.
