Enrique: It Is Difficult to Talk About Football Now
After the surprising loss of Paris Saint-Germain against Sporting Lisbon with a score of 2-1 in the seventh round of the group stage in the UEFA Champions League, Spanish coach Luis Enrique confirmed that he refuses to blame his players and focuses on praising their performance during the match.
Enrique said: "It is very easy to say that because Sporting Lisbon players scored two goals and our team scored only one, but this is the best away game we have played this season. I am very proud of my players, of this mentality, we will go very far."
He continued: "The result is disappointing and unfair, and it is unfortunate because I only saw one team throughout the match. We were superior to the opponent; they only defended."
He added: "This is very frustrating because it is so unfair that it makes it difficult to talk about football at this moment, it is football's curse for me."
He explained: "We will have to try to make up for it next week against Newcastle United to secure a place among the top eight."
Enrique concluded his statements by saying: "We must continue with the same mentality and work to give our best in every match. The results may sometimes be disappointing, but the team showed an outstanding level against a strong opponent."
