Roma's Position on Ending Tsimikas' Loan
Monday 19-01-2026
The website "Tutto Mercato" revealed that AS Roma is considering terminating the loan of Greek player Kostas Tsimikas from Liverpool during the current transfer window, amid plans to strengthen the left-back position by signing Fiorentina player Niccolò Fortini.

This move came after Roma strengthened their attacking lineup by signing Robinho from Marseille and Donyell Malen from Aston Villa. The club is now beginning to focus on reinforcing the defensive line, especially on the left side.

The website pointed out that Tsimikas has only played 600 minutes across all competitions with Roma, appearing in just 15 matches, and has not been given enough opportunities despite the main full-back, Angeliño, suffering from allergic bronchitis since October, which has kept the Spanish player off the field until now.

Fortini is considered the top target to reinforce the left flank, but Fiorentina rejected Roma's initial offer of 8 million euros. The asking price has risen to 15 million euros, with Juventus also showing interest in the player, whose current contract runs until June 2027.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed that Anghelino's health condition requires complete confidentiality, emphasizing the hope that the player will recover and return to the field soon. Meanwhile, Tsimikas's future remains tied to the club's plans to strengthen the squad.
