Moroccan Refereeing Team to Officiate Egypt vs Nigeria Match for Third Place
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the refereeing team for the third-place playoff match at the Africa Cup of Nations finals "Morocco 2025," which will be contested between the national teams of Egypt and Nigeria.
The match will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, starting at 5:00 PM, and will be officiated by the Moroccan referee Jalal Jaid.
CAF assigned Zakaria Bernisi as the first assistant referee, while Mustafa Akarkad will serve as the second assistant referee. Kenyan Peter Wairu Kamaku was appointed as the fourth official, and Tunisian Khalil Al-Hassani as the reserve assistant referee.
At the level of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, Algerian Lahlu Ben Brahem was appointed as the main referee, assisted by Tunisian Haitham Qirat and Moroccan Hamza Al-Fariq, while the role of referee assessor was assigned to Ivorian Sinko Zili.
The Egyptian national team was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals after losing to Senegal 1-0, with the goal scored by forward Sadio Mané. Meanwhile, the Nigerian team lost to Morocco in a penalty shootout (4-2) following a goalless draw at the end of both regular and extra time.
