Official: Manchester United Announces Appointment of Carrick as Head Coach
Manchester United Football Club announced the appointment of Michael Carrick as the head coach of the men's first team until the end of the 2025/2026 season, according to an official statement published on the club's official website.
The club explained that Carrick is considered one of the most prominent figures in the team's recent history, having played 464 matches wearing the Red Devils jersey, during which he won five Premier League titles, in addition to the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The statement pointed out that Carrick joined the first team's coaching staff after his retirement in 2018, working under the leadership of José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær. He also took on the role of interim head coach after Solskjær's departure, delivering a notable performance.
The official Manchester United website added that the English coach has previous coaching experience, having served as the head coach of Middlesbrough Football Club for two and a half years since October 2022, before returning to take charge at Old Trafford.
