Klopp's First Comment on the Possibility of Coaching Real Madrid
Tuesday 13-01-2026
German coach Jürgen Klopp has settled the debate about the possibility of him coaching Real Madrid in the near future, firmly confirming that he is not considering sitting on the bench at the moment, through direct and clear statements.

Regarding the link between his name and Real Madrid, Klopp said: "This matter has nothing to do with me at all," clearly indicating the exclusion of the idea of leading the royal team in the future.

The German coach spoke about the current coaching market situation, explaining: "The coaching market is changing, and it is not bad to observe things from a spectator's position, without thinking about what it might mean for you personally, because in the end, you are where you are."

Klopp also touched on the dismissal of Xabi Alonso from coaching Real Madrid, considering that what happened carries clear indications, saying: "What happened with Xabi Alonso is a sign that things there are not 100% right, when a coach who proved his exceptional talent for more than two years with Bayer Leverkusen leaves after only six months at Real Madrid."

Regarding the difficulty of the task Alonso faced, Klopp clarified: "When you come after a legend and a highly excellent coach like Carlo Ancelotti, who had a very special style of work, and you try to impose new rules, it becomes extremely difficult."

Klopp concluded his talk expressing his sympathy for the Spanish coach by saying: "I feel very sorry for Xabi Alonso because he is a great coach. Real Madrid represents the pinnacle for most coaches, and when you get there, you always want to continue."
