Wednesday 14-01-2026
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the upcoming match between the Pharaohs and the Senegalese team in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian national team will face the Senegalese national team tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.

Hossam Hassan said in the press conference before the match: "Anyone who reaches this stage of the tournament naturally prepares well. The Egyptian national team is accustomed to participating in these tournaments and competing in them."

He added: "We have all respect and appreciation for the Senegal national team and any opponent we face, and every team has its own style of play and approach to preparing for competitions."

He continued: "With all due respect to foreign coaches, I always support national coaches. The Egyptian national team has achieved many historic accomplishments with great local coaches such as Mahmoud El-Gohary and Hassan Shehata."

He added: "The Senegalese curse? The Egyptian national team has won the Africa Cup of Nations 7 times. The curse is not ours but belongs to those who have not reached this number. For a competitor to beat you once does not mean there is a curse, and the Egyptian team has been a curse for many competitors."

He concluded: "The competition between Salah and Mane is wonderful and has a special charm between two great stars. Both are excellent examples of African football, and of course, each of them wants to give their best for their country."
