Easing Travel Restrictions Gives Iranian Team an Advantage Before Facing Egypt in the World Cup

Wednesday 24-06-2026
The Iranian national team received approval from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to travel to the United States one day earlier than scheduled, ahead of their final group stage match in the World Cup on Friday.

This amendment to the immigration policy comes after repeated complaints from the Iranian national team, which asserted that the previous travel restrictions were affecting the players' readiness and performance during the tournament.

Under the new decision, the Iranian team will be able to travel from its base in Tijuana, Mexico, on Wednesday, two days before facing the Egyptian team in Seattle, giving the team more time to prepare.

In previous matches in Los Angeles, the Iranian team was forced to travel just one day before the match, which they considered insufficient for proper preparation.
