Tuesday 13-01-2026
Nigeria national football team coach, Eric Chiel, acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming match against the Moroccan national team, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Wednesday, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. This match is part of the semi-finals of the current edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, which is being hosted by the kingdom until January 18.

During the press conference preceding the match, the coach of the "Green Eagles" affirmed that his national team aims to regain its balance after the strong game they played against Algeria, saying: "We aspire to show our best possible readiness against Morocco, and we fully understand that the match will be challenging."

Scheel paused when talking about the Moroccan star Ibrahim Diaz, pointing out that he is a player with great potential. However, he emphasized that the focus will not be on just one player, explaining: "Diaz is a good player with high quality, but we will not develop a plan to stop him alone. Instead, we will aim to reduce the overall threat of the Moroccan national team, while primarily focusing on our own performance."

The Nigerian coach added: "We love football and enjoy playing, and my role is to shape this team in the best possible way to achieve victories. We are in a tournament that requires maintaining motivation and mental focus."

Sheel concluded his statements by affirming the readiness of his team, highlighting that the Nigerian national team has highly skilled players, and that the match against Morocco will be completely different from the previous encounter with Algeria. This requires adopting a special tactical approach that suits the dynamics of this highly anticipated African showdown.
