Slot: I Feel Disappointed Not to Win, and This Is What We Want to Improve

Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press statement after the 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the 21st round of the English Premier League, held at the Emirates Stadium.

The coach said in his speech: "In the first half, they were the team with the most ball possession on our field, which gave us some crossing opportunities, but no real chances to score. In the second half, things turned upside down, as we controlled the ball for almost the entire 45 minutes on their field."

He added: "The only thing that my team or I might have missed, despite all the ball possession and all those moments around the penalty area, was hoping to create more chances. But against an Arsenal team with great momentum, delivering a performance like this is something to be optimistic about."

Regarding the reason for the turnaround in the second half: "I believe we already demonstrated during certain periods of the first half how skilled we are at maintaining possession, but we continued that in the second half. Then we trapped them inside their penalty area and regained the ball again. Even in the first half, perhaps our best chance in the match came from about 20 consecutive passes, so I saw many good moments in the first half."

He emphasized: "In the second half, I think our defensive approach was a bit better. We had to adjust some details. We were constantly facing a three-on-two situation, and we had to defend against it. I still feel a slight disappointment for not winning, but it was a good performance."

He added: "I have said 150 times before that we are a very good team against certain styles of play, and we struggle against others. You may have noticed that today; although some now praise our long periods of ball possession, we had difficulty creating chances even against Arsenal's compact defense. So, this is something we want to improve, and it is one of the reasons for our significant lag behind them."

He concluded regarding Gabriel Martinelli pushing Bradley off the field after the latter fell due to injury: "I fear the worst for Conor Bradley. I think if any of our players were on the field, everyone would probably know by now that there is a problem. No one wants to see a player being substituted if they are injured."
